lyrics

I was living out the phrase
“Live every single day
As if it were your last”
A little too literally.
But the devil was depressed
And though I was on his list
He could not get his shit together.

I put a little Vaseline
On the lenses of my specs
And saw things as a dream.
And that worked well for awhile
But every dream sequence ends
When the camera cleans its lens
And the grounded story crawls back to life.

I’m in a war against myself
It’s me vs nobody else
And I think that maybe, this time I’m winning.

So I kept my story strong
Though the nights alone were long
Where I mixed up right & wrong
As I told you all in my direct address.
But what my enemies don’t get
Is that I am incapable to quit
And their milquetoast wares will soon wear thin.

And I’ve died so many times
What’s one more flat-line on the vine?
Because this time
I think I’m winning.

There’s logic in the breeze
And some magicks up my sleeve
And some concrete certainties
But still there’s questions I want to ask.
Like, "how could you share a bed
With someone who doesn’t get
Why some people risk it all for love?"

They said, "all you gotta do is disappear.
Be brave and step through the mirror."
But this time, I think I’m staying

If you wanted to come back,
Well you would just back.
There’s nothing easier than coming back.
I’ll prove it to you dear
Saying let’s get out of here
And reveal the exits that you lacked.

Well the world is a hostile nest
And no one knows what happens next,
But please be advised, you know it’s never easy

Please be advised, you know it's never easy.
